76mm Multi-ply rolls have a matt surface layer of white paper with either a duplicate or triplicate layer of carbonless paper behind. The additional layers are produced in impact paper and are typically coloured pink or yellow. A printer ribbon or roller is used to print the top copy of white receipt paper, with the print head also impacting through the top layer and on to the second and third layers of coloured paper beneath. This action creates the effect of a duplicate / triplicate receipts being produced. Due to it's design and capability to produce 3 copies or each receipt simultaneously, Multiply paper is particularity cost efficient and therefore is one of the most popular printer types found in busy restaurant kitchen environments.
